The Australian stock market is a web. The ASX is the spider, wooing and luring unsuspecting corporations into its web. Once there, the Australian brokers, funds and friends of the ASX manipulate the corporation's share price, sucking all finance from both the corporation and its shareholders.
A friend of mine has absolute documentary proof of the systematic manipulation that has occurred with at least one corporation on the exchange over recent years. The government, the ASIC and the ASX refuse to investigate or take the evidence seriously. If pursued, important people in very high places would be implicated, so nothing is ever going to improve. The recent 'Senate Inquiry' by the government was simply a public display whose sole purpose was to placate the naive public.
At a recent meeting between the ASX and 10 or so Chinese corporations here in Hong Kong where the ASX was working hard to lure them into its web, someone in the audience commented "How can you expect Chinese investment on the ASX? Your organization is toxic!". The ASX had no response.
